The enclosures in IP68 degree of protection have been designed for the compact telecontrol unit SIMATIC RTU3030C. They prevent possible damage to the devices and ensure reliable operation of the components in case of flooding.
Versions:
- Aluminum enclosure;
protects devices in tough environments and in the extended temperature range from -40 to +80 °C. - Stainless steel enclosure;
protects devices in tough environments and in the extended temperature range from -60 to +135 °C.

The use of the aluminum or stainless steel enclosure in IP68 degree of protection is recommended in all areas in which the SIMATIC RTU3030C needs special protection from dust and humidity.
These are mainly the following areas of application:
- Water/wastewater plants, e.g. pumping stations, water towers/tanks, water/wastewater shafts
- Tanks and silos
- Agriculture, for example, irrigation systems or greenhouses
- Flood protection
Дизайн
The enclosures offer sufficient space for an RTU3030C, two battery modules and an additional slot for additional equipment (e.g. a transmitter).
Both enclosure versions are characterized by the following properties:
- Cover fastened with Torx-Pin security screws
- 7 holes (M16) for cable feedthroughs
- 1 hole for a control cabinet feedthrough or lightning protection element onto which a mobile radio antenna can be mounted
- 2 pressure compensation elements for ventilation
- 2 hinges
- 35 mm DIN rail in the enclosure
- 2 standard mounting rail end brackets
In addition for the aluminum enclosure:
- Enclosure made of aluminum, powder coated, gray (RAL 7001)
- Grounding through lightning protection or cable gland
In addition for the stainless steel enclosure:
- Made of stainless steel 1.4301, matte surface
- Cover can be locked with padlock
- Grounding through lightning protection or grounding screw (preinstalled)

- Reliable device protection under rough ambient conditions
The enclosures protect the devices from dust and other contamination. They also withstand temperatures between -40 to +80 °C or -60 to +135 °C. Two pressure compensation elements ensure optimum ventilation of the enclosure and prevent the formation of condensation in case of extreme temperature fluctuations. Thanks to the protection class IP68, the devices are also waterproof and can be used in areas that are at risk of being flooded. (Please note the installation notes on the cover screws and openings for cable feed-throughs in the topic Accessories). - Protection against unauthorized access
The enclosure cover is fastened with Torx Pin security screws made of stainless steel. This makes it harder to access the devices inside the enclosure. For stainless steel enclosures, the option of an additional padlock offers additional protection. - Simple device mounting
A preassembled 35 mm DIN rail makes for fast and easy device mounting inside the enclosure. The enclosure cover can be opened conveniently thanks to the existing hinges. Cable feedthroughs have already been prepared for direct connection of sensors. - Flexible mounting of the mobile radio antenna
The mobile radio antenna can be mounted either through a control cabinet feedthrough or a lightning protection element. The antenna can be mounted directly or remotely.

Installation instruction for IP68-Schutz
The IP68 protection for aluminum and stainless steel enclosures is only ensured when the cover screws (and screws for the flange plate on stainless steel enclosures) are screwed in with the specified torque and if all holes drilled into the enclosure have been equipped with the corresponding accessories (cable glands or sealing plugs or lightning protection elements). The following torque must be applied:
- Aluminum enclosure cover screws: 2.5 Nm
- Stainless steel enclosure cover screws (as well as pre-mounted flange plate): 2.5 Nm
- Cable gland M16 cap nuts: 5 - 6 Nm
- Cable gland M16 supports: 3.5 - 4.5 Nm
- Sealing plugs M16: Hand tighten with tool to 2.5 – 3.5 Nm
