The battery module has been designed for the battery power supply of the compact telecontrol unit SIMATIC RTU3030C. It consists of the battery module housing and a battery holder. The batteries are not included in the scope of delivery (see "Design" section).
The self-powered RTU3030C is particularly suited for the monitoring and control of remote stations that are not connected to an energy supply network. It can independently collect data from connected sensors with time stamps, preprocess the data, and transfer it to a control center by means of mobile radio. Thanks to optimization of energy consumption, the RTU3030C can be supplied via a battery, accumulator or solar panel. Supply via a 12 - 24 V DC power supply is also possible. A battery power supply can be used exclusively or in addition to other power supply options.

The battery module can be used as sole energy supply source of the RTU3030C as well as in combination with an external direct current source (e.g. accumulator and/or solar panel). For battery operation only, the use of two battery modules is strongly recommended since this is the only way to ensure uninterrupted operation when the total battery capacity is fully utilized simultaneously.

The battery module housing is equipped with a holder for two batteries. The batteries are not included in the scope of delivery. For use in the battery module housing of the RTU3030C, two lithium-metal batteries that can withstand high current (primary cells, not rechargeable) are needed in each case.

The battery module is inserted on the left side of the SIMATIC RTU3030C and connected to the RTU without wiring effort by means of a connector on the side. - Easy battery replacement on site
If necessary, the battery can be easily replaced by the service personnel on site. - Flexible energy supply concept
Up to two battery modules can be connected to the RTU3030C. In addition to the battery modules, the external 12 ... 24 V DC voltage input (e.g. with a connected solar panel) can be used for power supply of the RTU. The battery module serves as spare in this case. The different energy supply options support the flexible used in different areas of application. - Battery replacement without loss of data
For battery replacement, the RTU3030C can be switched to a safe state. This enables a battery replacement without the loss of data. When two batteries are used, battery replacement can also take place without any interruptions. - Reliable use under harsh environmental conditions
The battery module housing is designed for use in harsh environmental conditions. When fitted with the approved battery types, it supplies the SIMATIC RTU3030C reliably with energy, even in the extended temperature range from -40 °C to +70 °C. - Status monitoring of the battery
When two battery modules are connected to the RTU3030C, the RTU automatically switches to the secondary battery module when a critical charging status has been reached. This guarantees uninterrupted operation and ensures that the first battery is completely discharged. The user can also be notified when the charging status drops below a defined threshold.
